8 Canny Alternatives for Feedback and Roadmap Management

An objective comparison of feedback and roadmap tools, including pricing models and where each one fits best.

Canny is a strong product, and most teams that leave it do so for one of three reasons: the pricing model, a gated capability like SSO or private boards, or a need for deeper roadmap planning than a feedback tool provides. Which alternative fits depends on which of those applies to you.

If pricing is the problem

Look for workspace-priced tools with unlimited internal collaborators and no tracked-user meter. This is the largest category of switch, and the thing to verify is not the headline price but which features sit behind the top tier — SSO, private boards, API access and custom domains are the usual gates.

Lightweight boards such as Frill and Nolt sit at the cheap end and are genuinely good if you need voting plus a roadmap and nothing else.

If you need deeper planning

Productboard and Aha! are planning suites, not feedback boards. They give you prioritisation frameworks, capacity planning and strategy documents — and they cost accordingly, with maker-seat minimums and metered AI.

Do not buy a planning suite to solve a feedback intake problem. The adoption cost lands on the people least willing to pay it.

If you need product analytics alongside feedback

Pendo bundles in-app guides and analytics with feedback collection. It is the right answer when the feedback module is a bonus on an analytics purchase, and the wrong one when feedback is the primary need.

If you are enterprise-procurement driven

UserVoice remains the most established option for large-account workflows and structured research programmes, with pricing to match.

How to run the evaluation

Score each tool on five things: total 12-month cost at your real user count, whether SSO and private boards are included, whether votes carry account and revenue context, integration depth with your issue tracker, and migration path for existing requests and votes.

Every vendor's own comparison page is written to win. Read at least two, including the incumbent's, and verify pricing on the vendor's live pricing page rather than a third-party roundup.
